    Dene Magna is an innovative school in the middle of the forest of Dean. Although this forest in Wales is only 200 km from London, many people never leave the forest to visit the Big City. There are high poverty rates and Dene Magna was low ranked in the national rankings. This changed drastically. The school found a way to manage diversity, to motivate and engage students in their own learning process. 
    This study-trip will show how students are motivated to be engaged students. We will learn about the ‘house system’, ‘the buddy system’, the school dog and much more. Citizenship education and participation will be central themes during this study visit.

      - Get to know the English education System

      - Will get to know how citizenship education is implemented in the English curriculum.

      - Learn the principles of coaching, feedback, observation  

      - Inquire how Dene Magna School challenge the learning process of their students 

      - Discover how these schools have a policy on coaching, feedback, observation,
         challenging learning environments which contributes to the students’ engagement

      - Reflect individual and collective on what they learn during the visit

    950 euro: The price does not include flight tickets from your destination to the course venue.For people travelling as participant in a Catholic Education Consortium, transport is included + traveldays will be Sunday (travelling to destination) and Saturday (travelling back to Belgium).

    What to expect

    The job shadow activity will provide participants the opportunity to talk to teachers, students and administration in the school. Participants will be able to have a real look behind and in front of the scena at Dene Magna.
